The launch marks the first time Terry’s iconic Chocolate Orange flavour has appeared in the sweet biscuit aisle. The sandwich-style cookies combine Maryland’s crunchy chocolate chip biscuits with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange-flavoured filling made using the brand’s signature real orange oil. The new biscuits are available as a four-week exclusive in Tesco and Booker stores before rolling out to other major supermarkets from August 12. Shoppers will also be able to pick up a price-marked pack of the new cookies, with a recommended retail price of £1.39. The launch is the first flavour extension to the Maryland S’wich range since it debuted last year. It also follows the brand’s recent Harry Potter Butterbeer-flavoured cookies collaboration. Most read in Money Fox’s Burton’s Companies said the partnership is designed to lure Terry Chocolate fans into the biscuit aisle while giving Maryland shoppers an exciting flavour to try. FBC also believes the product could receive an extra sales boost later in the year thanks to Terry’s strong association with Christmas. The manufacturer said chocolate orange is one of the five most popular flavours in the anytime treats category, with consumer testing showing an impressive 85 per cent of shoppers said they would buy the new cookies. FBC chief sales and trade marketing officer Jo Harwood said: “The collaboration is designed to engage both existing fans and new consumers in the chocolate confectionery category, while creating meaningful opportunities to support category growth and sales performance. “The launch is also expected to benefit from the seasonal association and pull that Terry’s has around Christmas following its initial launch period.” Comment now
