Penned by John Milton and published in the 17th century, the epic poem retells the biblical story of the temptation of Adam and Eve by Satan and their banishment from the Garden of Eden. Though the story has long been considered unadaptable, largely due to the cost of its cosmic scale, a movie adaptation was announced in April 2026 by the AI production company Ex Machina. Now, according to Deadline, the Paradise Lost movie's theatrical release has been set for Easter 2027. Ex Machina Studios has entered into an exclusive North American theatrical distribution deal with the Mayfair Media Group, a team of exhibition executives headed by Galaxy Theatres veterans Frank Rimkus and Rafe Cohen. Under the agreement, several Ex Machina movies will be released across major markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco. Mayfair is expected to deliver wide theatrical releases of more than 1,500 screens through Galaxy Theatres and other cinema chains, which reportedly committed to the projects after viewing footage from Ex Machina's upcoming slate. The AI-focused production studio plans to release four projects in 2027, with roughly six films expected to follow each year as part of its exclusive partnership with Mayfair.
