New Elizabeth Waddell timeline emerges after friend hits out at rumor about American woman, 44, missing in Grenada

A NEW timeline has emerged as the search for missing American tourist Elizabeth Waddell in the Caribbean enters its seventh day. Waddell, 44, mysteriously vanished on July 22 after going for a solo swim while on a dream vacation with a friend in Grenada in the West Indies. Amanda Romano-Harmon, who has known Waddell, a physical therapist, for more than 20 years, told The U.S. Sun she was swimming in the afternoon. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “She would not have gone for a swim at 8pm,” she said. “I’ve seen that going around online. She did not go to swim at eight at night. “She was out in broad daylight in the middle of the afternoon.” Police in Grenada have now released video footage of Waddell walking from her Airbnb toward a nearby jetty at Grand Anse Beach. It has a timestamp of 11.36am. Her family has also shared stills from the security footage showing her leaving the property in a pair of blue-and-white striped shorts and burnt orange top. Blonde Waddell is seen holding her towel and walking barefoot. Minutes later at 11.46am, she is seen on the jetty removing her towel and preparing to swim. Amanda said, “Heather, her friend, had to finish up an online course and Liz went out there [alone].” The footage shows Waddell at 12.04pm swimming beneath the jetty. This is the last time the tourist, from Cary, North Carolina, was seen alive – seven days ago. In the video footage, released by the family, Heather is seen at 12.46pm walking toward the jetty to look for her. She finds her towel has been left behind, but returns alone after failing to locate Waddell. She then contacted Waddell’s husband, Cailen, who was back home in North Carolina, before officially reporting her missing at around 5:50 pm. The Royal Grenada Police Force launched an immediate search and gave updates during a press conference on Tuesday. Waddell’s family has now launched a website, findliz.com, with her husband writing an update about the search efforts. “Liz was last seen around 12.04pm about 20’ at most from shore in water around 5’ deep swimming towards the beach at Grand Anse,” he wrote. “I went out and did this swim yesterday. It is easy, there are lots of rocks you can stop at if you need. “The water is shallower near shore, where liz could touch if she wanted and the water is like a lake, not like ocean water we experience in North Carolina. “Liz was wearing blue and white striped shorts, and an orange sort of loose crop top shirt. “This information on her clothing is different than what was previously reported.” He went on, “The video evidence is obviously the most reliable. Both of these clothing items were newer, so I don’t think we have pictures of her in them. To confirm, she was wearing this clothing in the water.” Cailen went on to explain that authorities have received tips from people on Jet Skis regarding an interaction they potentially had with a woman matching Liz’s description farther out in the water around 5.30 pm. “The police are working to connect with these people and determine a more precise location, they are also working to collect security footage from all hotels along the beach,” he wrote. He explained they would like to determine if there is any video evidence or additional sightings of Liz after 12:04 pm. “It seems improbable, if the potential sighting from Jet Skis was her, that she was in the water for 5.5 hours, yet, she did not have her wallet, cards, or cash with her, nor did she have shoes,” Cailen said. As the search takes it toll on her family, Liz’s husband also said, “I am heartbroken that she is missing. “Those of you who knew us best knew our commitment to each other, to travel, to nature, and exploring the world as a team. “I am so thankful for the outpouring of community support. “It is far beyond what I ever expected, please continue to send love, good thoughts, and what every positive vibes best fit your belief system.” Comment now
