New ban confirmed for major UK music festival this weekend due to ‘incredibly dry’ weather

A MAJOR UK music festival has confirmed a new ban this weekend in a move to combat “incredibly dry” weather. Tens of thousands of Brits are set to attend the indie rock music festival this year, which runs in the historic park every year. In a statement on Facebook, organisers said: “Our beautiful Deer Park has had plenty of sunshine recently, leaving the ground incredibly dry and the grass well and truly parched. Some of the grass looks closer to straw! “To help keep everyone safe, sadly disposable and charcoal BBQs won’t be permitted on site this year.” Some gas camping stoves and gas barbecues will be allowed, but the gas cannisters used must be 240g or less. For 18 years, Kendal Calling has run on the historic rolling hills of Lowther Deer Park, close to the town of Penrith in the North West of England. The festival is set to welcome 40,000 Brits to its sold out events this weekend, seeing Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, Two Door Cinema Club, and The Kooks all headline. However, the region has been hit by prolonged hot weather and dry conditions, with seven areas of England declaring drought conditions today.
