New Anthony Edwards Ad Takes Shots at Drake: ‘A Certain Bandwagon Fan Is Facing FOMO & Buried in Lawsuits’

This is the second time the NBA superstar has responded to a Kevin Durant & Drake Nike commercial from earlier this year. Carmen Mandato/Getty Images The Anthony Edwards vs. Kevin Durant and Drake sneaker war doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. In a new ad for the adidas AE 3, starring Hasan Minhaj as “The official Anthony Edwards insider,” the comedian and actor took a dig at he Toronto rapper in response to a Kevin Durant Nike commercial from a few months ago. As he introduces himself, Minhaj makes a joke about your mom before taking a shot at LeBron James and Nike’s stock price, and finally focuses his attention at Drake. “Oh, and meanwhile, somewhere in Toronto, a certain bandwagon fan is facing FOMO and buried in lawsuits. Really sorry about that!” he says to the camera. Back in June, Durant and Nike released an ad promoting a new purple colorway of the KD 19 where Drake and the sneakers are delivered in a wooden box to the Houston Rockets forward’s house. As Drake talks about the new kicks, he ends his sales pitch with a jab toward Anthony Edwards’s signature sneakers. “‘Hey Ant-Man, can you drop your purple shoes?’ Said four kids in Minnesota,” he jokes. “Like no one wants to see those, they want the KDs” This is the second ad where Edwards responds to Nike’s commercial. Earlier this month, in a PrizePicks ad, he parodied the aforementioned Nike ad and had a wooden box delivered to his friends to replace with a box of his sneakers. The box had “FRAGILE: RETURN TO TORONTO” stenciled on it, while someone was inside it trying to get out as they asked for Kevin. Once they realize who might be inside the box, his friend borrows a line from Kendrick Lamar. “Man, buddy ain’t nothin’,” he tells his partner. “You know he had to run to Atlanta to get the swag, anyway.” After they switch the boxes up, they park in front of a crowd of people, walk out and say, “I heard only four people in Minnesota wanted these.” We will have to wait and see if Ant-Man earned himself a couple of bars in Drake’s next song.
