The latest proposal for the upstream Linux kernel is introducing infrastructure for AI agent resources. Initially these agent resources would be for a skill so AI agents can automatically add a "Fixes: " tag on relevant patches for noting the first problematic Git commit automatically that a patch fixes. The AI agents resources would be a new directory -- either an agents/ directory in the root kernel source tree as currently proposed or potentially moved within the existing documentation directory. That then referenced by the Linux kernel's existing AI / generated content documentation for pointing AI agents to it. The intent is on collecting skills, prompts, and other resources for coding assistants moving forward. The initial skill proposed is for leveraging LLMs to determine the "Fixes: " by tag on new patches for noting the Linux kernel commit fixed by a given proposed patch. The AI agent resources proposal was sent out today by Sasha Levin of NVIDIA who has also worked on other Linux kernel AI initiatives like proposing AGENTS.md, AI-powered merge conflict resolution, and using AI to determine patches for backporting to prior kernel versions. We'll see what comes of this new AI Agent resources proposal.
