According to Deadline, Netflix plans to expand The Lincoln Lawyer universe with a spinoff series following Mickey Haller's half-sister Artemisia “Emi” Finch, played by Cobie Smulders. Executive producers Ted Humphrey, Dailyn Rodriguez and Matthew J. Lieberman will work on the script. The three EPs reportedly presented their idea in a recent pitch meeting with Netflix, with executives at the streamer reacting so positively to the show that they immediately began fast-tracking its development. Since the spinoff is still in the early stages of development, Netflix hasn't officially greenlit the series just yet, but it seems inevitable, assuming all the critical stakeholders sign contracts to come on board. Netflix hopes to film the Lincoln Lawyer spinoff in Los Angeles if it can get approved for a California tax credit, similar to the financial benefits that the original series has taken advantage of.
