Netflix's Legacy Sitcom Reboot That Was Cancelled Too Soon Gets New Revival Update

Hollywood started revisiting established IPs from the past for either a reboot or revival in the last decade or so. Admittedly, most of them ended up being a massive disappointment, with shows not living up to the hype and/or unable to replicate the magic of the originals. There is a small batch of projects, however, that defied expectations and was able to relive its glory days, including Netflix's attempt at bringing back Full House's Tanners in Fuller House. In 2016, the streamer re-opened the doors of the iconic San Francisco home and reunited fans with the beloved family. By then, several years had passed since Full House ended, which meant that the new generation of characters were old enough to be the new leads. DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy became the new faces of the project, while Danny, Jesse, and Joey popped in and out for some nostalgia. Unfortunately, the Olsen Twins didn't return as Michelle. Fuller House ran for five seasons before Netflix cancelled it, and understandably, almost everyone from the cast was disappointed about it. Six years later, Candace Cameron Bure floated the possibility of a new Full House revival in a new interview with Woman's World. She revealed that even after all this time, she is still dreaming of a third iteration of the Tanner family narrative, and while she doesn't have any specific ideas, she shared that the new series could be called Fullest House, continuing the title progression. That would be the dream.” “It’s been a dream to have been a part of a show that has a real, true legacy. It’s never been off the air in over 35 years. Full House means so much to so many people. I was on the show from [age] 10 to 18, and you never know how something’s gonna go and what it’s gonna mean to people. So when I look back, I have so much appreciation.” “I love that I was chosen to play D.J., and then we got to continue that legacy with Fuller House, and it’s just a huge, special part of my life that still lives on. There’s always new fans and new generations that watch both of the shows, and it means a ton to me.” Aside from being one of its lead stars, Cameron Bure was also an executive producer for the new series. When Netflix pulled the plug on Fuller House, she was one of the most vocal about her disappointment about it, especially since they were apparently led to believe that they had at least one more season in the bag. Considering her previous position in Fuller House and her ties with the franchise, she's the perfect person to push for the return of the Tanners to the small screen. It's important to remember, however, that there's no substantial evidence that this project is being actively developed right now. So it's best not to get invested in it this early. That being said, if Cameron Bure is open to doing it, then there's also a possibility that the rest of the cast is also interested in it. Of course, it would be remiss not to mention that it would be without Danny, considering Bob Saget's unexpected death in 2022, but losing the Tanner patriarch could also be the emotional core of the new series. It could also double as their tribute to the actor. Only time will tell if Cameron Bure's dream will actually happen. For what it's worth, Fuller House left several unresolved storylines, particularly with regard to Stephanie's future. Perhaps, after spending time developing DJ, the proposed project could do the same for her younger sister. Beyond that, maybe they could even finally convince the Olsens to come back as Michelle.
