Netflix Is Reviving Long-Dormant Crime Series 13-Years After Original Cancellation

Originally premiering in 2011, Top Boy is a British television series about a group of young people in a crime-ridden area of East London. The first season was nominated for multiple BAFTAs, and received critical acclaim, but sadly only got one additional season originally, as the series was initially cancelled in 2013. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has officially greenlit a Top Boy prequel series, titled Jonny Boy. The series will focus on Jonny McGee, played by Barry Keoghan. Keoghan will also executive produce the five-episode miniseries, which will be produced by Cowboy Films. Original Top Boy writer-creator Ronan Bennett will return for Jonny Boy, as will Canadian rapper Drake. More to come...
