Netflix hikes UK prices AGAIN with cheapest ad-based plan soaring by a third – and Brits could be hit within just weeks

NETFLIX is hiking its subscription prices again this year with the change set to impact its 18million UK users. The streaming site’s cheapest ad-based plan will see the heftiest increase, with monthly subscription costs soaring by a third. Subscribers to Netflix’s cheapest plan, Standard with Ads, will be the most impacted, with a monthly subscription rising from £5.99 to £7.99 – a rise of over a third. The Standard tier prices will also rise by £1 to £13.99, with the Premium plan also increading by £2 to £20.99. However, Uswitch broadband expert Max Beckett told The Sun that Brits can leave the plan if they don’t want to pay the increased price. He said: “The good news is that if you pay Netflix directly, you’re not locked in. “If the new price doesn’t feel worth it, you can downgrade or cancel penalty-free at any time – dropping from Standard to the ad-supported plan now saves £6 a month, or £72 a year, if you can live with the adverts.” Brits who already have a Netflix subscription will see a price change on their upcoming bill, with new customers charged the new cost imemdiately. He said: “And if Netflix comes bundled with your broadband or TV package, don’t assume you’ve dodged it, as providers tend to pass these rises on at their next price review.” Brits can also watch television shows on free, ad-supported alternatives such as ITVX, Channel 4 and Tubi.
