Netflix desperate to land Emily Atack for Inbetweeners comeback after all four original stars sign up for show

NETFLIX will bring back all four original stars of The Inbetweeners — but are desperate for Emily Atack to return as Charlotte “Big Jugs” Hinchcliffe. The streaming giant has signed up Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison to reprise their roles as the hapless schoolmates for a movie. A TV insider said: “The creators of the show have written the script and are ready to roll — but Emily is one of the missing pieces in the project they’re keen to get in place. Sign up for the TV newsletter Thank you! “Fans will already be delighted that the four main leads are returning as there was concern that a reboot might see new, younger actors cast in the roles of the lads, who were all supposed to be teenagers in the show. “But it’s fair to say getting Emily back would be the cherry on the Inbetweeners cake.” The biggest hurdle facing producers has been aligning the diaries of the four main actors who played adolescents Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Simon Cooper and Neil Sutherland. They have all been busy with other projects ranging from acting gigs to podcasts, but all of them were said to be thrilled to be asked back. But Emily may be trickier to pin down as she is now a big star in Disney bonkbuster Rivals. She is also making a new legal drama for BBC One called Reputation and is waiting to find out if ITV will make a second series of Nobody’s Fool, the game show she hosts with her Rivals co-star Danny Dyer. It was then made into two hit movies in 2011 and 2014. The show was twice nominated at the Baftas and won three British Comedy Awards. We also confirmed in April that Netflix would show the finished product, which could be ready by 2027 if filming goes ahead later this year. The streamer frequently makes and drops movies on their streaming service. Previous film adaptations of TV shows include Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and Luther: The Fallen Sun.
