The truly strange thing would be thinking that Stranger Things would ever be over. A new spinoff of the Duffer Brothers’ pop culture juggernaut, entitled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, has just been announced by Netflix: Due to premiere in 2028, the show will be “a prequel set in the 1950s, before Stranger Things and before the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” Other Worlds was announced as part of the annual celebration of Stranger Things Day on November 6th (just a matter of time before it becomes a national holiday). The series was co-created by Matt & Ross Duffer and Kate Trefry, a longtime Stranger Things writer who was also the playwright behind The First Shadow. Joe Wright, whose credits include Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, Darkest Hour, and Cyrano, will direct the first three episodes of the series, which will be shot in New Mexico. No cast has been announced yet. For more, revisit our coverage of the Stranger Things series finale, including every needle drop featured in the final season. The complete series is also available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray via Amazon. Check out the teaser announcing Other Worlds below.
