Netflix & Millie Bobby Brown's New Movie That Strays From Sci-Fi Genre Will Release Next Year

The actor has a long history with the popular streamer. She landed her breakout role in the entertainment industry with the hit series Stranger Things and stuck with Netflix for other projects like Enola Holmes and Damsel. Her next film is a Young Adult rom-com called Just Picture It. Last fall, before the final season of Stranger Things was released, Brown signed on to star in Just Picture It. Netflix just revealed that the movie will come out sometime in 2027, the same year as other YA content like Ginny & Georgia season 4, Poser, and The Sticks. In Just Picture It, two students in college have their lives turned upside down when their phones start revealing photos from the future of them married to each other and with children. Brown will star in one of the two lead roles with Gabriel LaBelle. Julian Dennison, Amrit Kaur, Idina Menzel, Margo Martindale, Brec Bassinger, Ben Jackson Walker and Anthony Keyvan are among the other cast members. Aside from starring in the movie, Brown will also have a behind-the-scenes role as a producer with Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Robert Brown, Alyssa Altman, Jake Bongiovi, Isobel Roberts and David Kern. Lee Toland Krieger is helming the rom-com after directing movies like Celeste and Jesse Forever and The Age of Adaline, and episodes of Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Superman & Lois and Brilliant Minds. Jesse Lasky wrote the script. Filming took place last September and October in Georgia. Brown is treading into new territory with Just Picture It, since the movie will be her very first romantic comedy. A lot of her projects have either been sci-fi or historical pieces. She played Eleven for all five seasons of Stranger Things, which debuted in 2016 and concluded on New Year's Eve 2025 with a two-hour-plus series finale that screened in theaters alongside its Netflix release. Amid the success of Stranger Things, Brown launched her movie career in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the sequel Godzilla vs. Kong. She also partnered with Netflix on Damsel, The Electric State, and the Enola Holmes film series, which saw the actor playing Sherlock Holmes' younger sister.
