The trailer shows former Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth, played once again by Brad Pitt, getting up to various violent shenanigans as he does odd “jobs” for the film industry. The story will take place in 1977, eight years after the previous movie. For those unfamiliar, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood followed stuntman Cliff Booth as he crossed paths with an infamous cult. A notable element of the trailer is its reference to one of the previous movie's most controversial moments: Cliff beating up Bruce Lee.Some, including the Bruce Lee estate, objected to Lee's depiction in the film because he's portrayed as an unlikable poser who gets his ass kicked by Cliff. While it could have been argued that Cliff was an unreliable narrator, and the fight wasn't meant to be taken literally, Tarantino couldn’t help weighing in, saying Bruce Lee was“kind of an arrogant” guy. More recently, Tarantino came under fire after randomly calling out Paul Dano for "ruining" There Will Be Blood. Who is working on The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth? David Fincher is directing The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. It marks the third film in a row he’s helming for Netflix — his last two were Mank (2020) and The Killer (2023). Tarantino, who directed and wrote Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,​​​​​​also scripted this sequel, marking the first movie he has written but not directed since 1996's From Dusk Till Dawn. In an interview with Deadline, Brad Pitt said that Tarantino “didn’t want to direct it,” which is why Fincher stepped in. While Tarantino hasn’t confirmed why he didn’t want to helm the flick, it may be because he didn’t want to break his own “10 film rule,” which is his pledge that once he directs that many movies, he’ll retire from the industry. The provocateur is technically already at 10 films, but not by his own count, as he considers Kill Bill one movie split into two volumes. Beyond Brad Pitt returning as Cliff Booth, the movie features Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Scott Caan (Ocean’s Eleven), Carla Gugino (Sin City, The Fall of the House of Usher), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Wonder Man), and more. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will release exclusively in IMAX on Nov. 25, 2026 for two weeks, before streaming on Netflix on Dec. 23, 2026.
