Netball NZ says plans to drop Mowbray-Williams private league leaked

Netball New Zealand says it deeply regrets the way players found out about the future of the domestic game.On Friday, RNZ broke the story that Netball NZ had pulled the pin on plans for a privately-run domestic league, with investors Anna Mowbray and Ali Williams. In a statement on Monday morning, Netball New Zealand chief executive Jennah Wootten said confidential correspondence about the Board's decision to end negotiations on the proposed privatisation of the elite domestic competition was leaked to media on Friday, before NNZ had the opportunity to speak directly with those most affected. She said their intention was always to speak with players before any public announcement, and to do so with as much clarity as possible about the pathway forward.Wooten said she was sorry players instead had to learn of this decision through the media rather than direct from Netbball NZ.More to come.
