Net profits of MSX-listed companies rise by 12% to OMR866.98mn

Muscat: Net profits of public joint-stock companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) rose by 12 percent reaching OMR866.98 million during the second quarter of 2026. In addition, 87 percent of the MSX-listed companies that disclosed their financial results generated profits during the same period.The results showed profit growth across three main sectors, with the industrial sector recording the highest growth rate at 51 percent, followed by the financial sector at 13 percent, and investment and real estate funds at 11 percent, while the services sector declined by 4 percent. The financial sector maintained its position as the largest sector in terms of profit volume, recording OMR392 million compared to OMR346 million during the second quarter of 2025, representing an increase of OMR46 million.The services sector recorded profits of OMR297 million compared to OMR309 million in the same period last year, while profits of the industrial sector rose to OMR172 million compared to OMR114 million, marking the largest increase in profit value among the sectors.Profits of investment and real estate funds reached approximately OMR6 million compared to OMR5 million during the corresponding period last year.At the company level, OQ Exploration and Production Company topped the list of most profitable companies with a net profit of OMR196.87 million, followed by Bank Muscat with a net profit OMR137.49 million, then Oman India Fertiliser Company (Omifco) with a net profit OMR80.22 million, while Sohar International Bank ranked fourth with profits of OMR53 million, and OQ Basic Industries came fifth with profits of OMR43.30 million.The results showed the continued contribution of the financial and services sectors to the largest share of total profits, coinciding with the industrial sector recording the highest growth rate among the sectors, reflecting the diversity of profitability sources among listed companies and performance variation according to the nature of economic activities.The second-quarter results reflect listed companies' continued achievement of high profitability levels, supported by the performance of key sectors and the expanding base of profitable companies, as the proportion of companies achieving profits reached 87 percent of total disclosing companies, marking one of the highest profitability rates recorded in recent periods.
