National Testing Agency issues call for onboarding subject experts, translators in overhaul bid

The NTA is seeking subject matter experts who can contribute to formulation of questions by crafting high-order thinking, and application-based and syllabus-aligned questions, the agency has specified. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is inviting applications from experienced educators, researchers and academicians for the empanelment of subject matter experts and translation reviewers as a part of it’s overhaul following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy.The NTA has removed 600 subject matter experts including external, contracted, and panel-based subject matter specialists who were responsible for creating question papers, translating content, and conducting psychometric reviews, after it was found that certain experts and translators were compromised and responsible for the paper leak. They are now being completely replaced by a new cohort of onboarded specialists.The agency has stated that experts can submit their Expressions of Interest on the NTA portal till October 9.“If you are passionate about maintaining pedagogical excellence, academic integrity, and rigorous assessment standards across India’s premier national-level examinations, this is your opportunity to contribute directly to the examination ecosystem,” the NTA said on social media platform X.The NTA is seeking subject matter experts who can contribute to formulation of questions by crafting high-order thinking, and application-based and syllabus-aligned questions, the agency has specified.It is looking for subject matter experts who can conduct review and vetting by scrutinising test items for conceptual accuracy, clarity, and difficulty calibration.The subject matter experts should be well versed in moderation and ensuring standardisation, neutrality, and adherence to exam blueprints. They should also be sound in translation and “trans adaptation” by providing precise, culturally and linguistically sound translations across multiple regional languages.Serving or retired faculty, professors, school educators, and domain specialists with demonstrable subject expertise can apply, the NTA has said.The agency is also inviting applications for translation reviewers as part of its efforts to ensure quality and accuracy in multilingual exam content. The opportunity involves AI translation review, working across 13 Indian languages, supporting quality in national exams, and reviewing translations for accuracy and clarity.“With examination content being made available across multiple Indian languages, and the increasing use of AI-assisted translation, expert human review plays an important role in maintaining linguistic accuracy, clarity, consistency and contextual relevance,” the NTA said on X.“If you are proficient in the required Indian languages and have a keen eye for language and detail, you can contribute to this important process,” it said.
