Physicist Julia Phillips, spent 20 years at Sandia National Laboratories, during which time she served as a manager of material sciences and oversaw research for the nuclear weapons science and technology program. She ended her career there as a vice president and chief technology officer. She along, with 22 other National Science Board members, were fired unceremoniously at the end of April by the Trump administration.
