National Livestock Vaccination Project launched in North Al Batinah

Sohar: The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate today launched the National Livestock Vaccination Project for the 2026/2027 season in the governorate’s wilayats.The event was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture. Eng. Nasser Ali Al Marshoudi, Director General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, said that the livestock vaccination project in the governorate comes as a continuation of efforts to develop the animal health system, affirming the importance of integrating field work with digital technologies and data to raise the efficiency of veterinary services and enhance the protection of livestock and support for food security.He added that the project comes within the framework of Oman’s efforts to promote animal health, disease prevention, and livestock protection, as well as support food security and the sustainability of animal production, noting that the project this year targets more than half a million head of livestock in the governorate, through the operation of six veterinary clinics in the governorate’s wilayats, along with two mobile veterinary clinics to provide vaccination services to the livestock targeted for vaccination this season.Aida Mohammed Al Maqbali, Director of the Livestock Department in North Al Batinah, reviewed the results of the previous vaccination season, which saw the administration of more than 900,000 vaccine doses benefiting more than 449,000 head of livestock, while the number of beneficiaries of vaccination services reached 4,325.She explained that the results achieved during the previous season reflected the scale of the field efforts made, noting that the new season aims to reach more than 70% of the total livestock population in the governorate, while continuing to develop working mechanisms, improve the efficiency of outreach to breeders, and enhance prevention and animal health. This is in addition to launching the digital platform for the vaccination system, which represents a step toward developing follow-up mechanisms and field data management, improving the reading of performance indicators, and supporting decision-making, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of the program’s implementation in the governorate.
