National Federation of the Blind puts forth demands for visually impaired persons

The National Federation of the Blind has put forth seven demands before the Tamil Nadu government.Manoharan P., Director Projects, National Federation of the Blind, South India, said the State government should soon increase the maintenance allowance for persons with disabilities from ₹1500 to ₹3000.“Families of persons with disabilities with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh are eligible for free cylinders. Our demand is that the income limit be increased to ₹5 lakh,” he told a press conference here.Pargunan C. of the Tamil Nadu branch said the government must identify the vacant posts reserved for persons with disabilities in various government departments, conduct special recruitment examinations, and provide them with employment opportunities.
