It comes just weeks after James was arrested at Eastview Mall in Victor, New York, on July 29. According to a press release from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department, he was found masturbating in his vehicle in view of the public. He was taken into custody, issued an appearance ticket and released, and is due to appear at Victor Town Court. To many fans’ surprise, his listed address on the paperwork was “homeless”, a detail which has added another layer to the questions surrounding what has been happening in James’ life away from the family cameras. The family’s content at the time framed it as a step towards independence – James would remain close by, fans were told, and they’d “still see him now and then.” Becoming less visible as he got older wouldn’t, on its own, have raised many eyebrows. But his address being listed as homeless at the time of his arrest set off its own wave of discussion among viewers, several of whom accused Alicia of favouritism and questioned why James apparently wasn’t living under the family roof at all. “She has let that boy down in so many ways recently,” one wrote. “How can she let him live in a car at such a young age.
