My party will protect self-respect of ‘original Reddys’, says Vijaya Sai Reddy

Vijaya Sai Reddy on Friday announced he would soon float a new political party to protect the “self-respect of the original Reddy community in Andhra Pradesh,” while respecting all castes and religions.Party launch dayAddressing the media here during his district tour, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said his party flag would be hoisted on the auspicious ‘Ekadashi’ day after the Vijaya Dasami festival, marking its formation day.The former MP demanded that the coalition government constitute a Reddy Corporation immediately. Targeting the leadership of the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party (that he had represented in the Rajya Sabha), Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy alleged that “the two families have no love or concern for Rayalaseema, but are doing politics only for votes and power.”“Chandrababu Naidu (Chief Minister and TDP national president) and Jagan Mohan Reddy (YSRCP president and former CM) should explain what happened to the Sribagh pact and what development they did in Rayalaseema,” he said.“Rayalaseema is not about Reddys alone. Many communities from the region sacrificed their lives for the country. Unemployment is forcing large-scale migration from the backward region,” he said.Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy claimed that every person, including the unborn child, in the State was carrying a debt of ₹5 lakh. The State had been leading in ganja cultivation for 15 years, and stringent laws were the need of the hour to curb the menace.Third alternativeHe maintained that his party would emerge as a third alternative in the State on the lines of actor Joseph Vijay’s TVK party in Tamil Nadu. “If people vote for me, I will make a socially committed youth the Chief Minister and act as a guide,” Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said.“If my party comes to power, government schools will be fully strengthened for free, quality education with quality teachers,” he asserted. His other promises included creation of 30 lakh jobs in five years, release of job calendar on January 1 every year through APPSC, scrapping of outsourcing system and DSC, and recruitments without pressure.Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy further announced a ₹10,000 monthly allowance to the unemployed youths till they get jobs, 66% reservation for youth in elections, and representation to every community in the legislature. “I strongly oppose religious conversions through inducement,” he said.On his daughter’s proposed TV channel, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said he had no links with it and that it would remain neutral in content.
