I’m a huge fan of popping on a pair of marigolds and getting down and dirty, transforming spaces to make them look sparkling new. One of my favourite parts has to be hoovering; picture the scene from Mrs Doubtfire when she’s cleaning the home – that’s me. I’ve had the same trusty hoover for over seven years, so when it finally gave up, I was devastated. However, it meant I could invest in a dazzling new option; so I opted for GTech’s AirRAM 3 Plus model after hearing a lot about it, but could it compete with the popular brand’s tech that I’ve been so used to? Short answer: it surpasses it. The model usually retails for £419.99, but you can snap it up at just £269.99 right now on GTech’s website. AirRAM 3 Plus Dual Edge-Clean Cordless Vacuum – with Voice Assist The Gtech AirRAM 3 Plus is a cordless upright vacuum cleaner designed to make cleaning effortless, with powerful suction, anti-hair wrap technology, LED headlights and dual edge-clean brushes that tackle dust right up to skirting boards and corners. It also features voice assist alerts, a self-cleaning filter system and up to 30 minutes of runtime, helping to reduce maintenance while delivering a thorough clean throughout the home. The first thing I loved about it was how straightforward it was to assemble. It was a matter of slotting in three separate pieces together, and that was it; it was ready to go. Of course I put it to the test straight away, and whilst it felt slightly heavier than my previous model, the ergonomic handle made manoeuvring a breeze, with little pressure and effort needed to get it to go in the direction you’d like. The leather fabric around the handle gives it a premium, comfortable touch, making it comfortable to hold when using. Alongside this, the adjustable height is a big bonus. There’s no need to give yourself a bad back by bending over. It also makes it perfect for storing as the handle can be shortened to fit in smaller spaces. I was impressed with how well this cleaned my carpets. (Picture: Metro/Scott Da Silva-Wells) When it comes to picking up, it is fitted with LED headlights so you can see more dirt and dust, ensuring it all gets picked up. The suction is super strong as it only runs on full power, so there’s no need to fiddle around with settings when transferring from wood, to tiles, to carpet. The dual-edged design means that nothing can escape its track, even when you’re up against the skirting boards. I do a lot of sewing, which means that there tends to be a lot of loose threads embedded into the carpet, meaning I had to hand-pick them up as my old hoover couldn’t catch them; however, the AirRAM 3 Plus did it with no problem at all thanks to its anti-hair wrap brush bar. When looking into it more, it has softer bristles, which means it can direct the hair or fine threads straight to the storage area in the head of the hoover rather than the stem. The Gtech AirRAM 3 is a nifty vacuum cleaner. (Picture: Metro/Scott Da Silva-Wells) Speaking of the bin, it’s so easy to empty through its simple slide opening that means you won’t be emptying half of its contents back onto the floor. One of the most annoying things when hoovering is when the battery decides to run out as you’re halfway through. Which is why another aspect I love about GTech’s model is that instead of having to plug it in to charge, it comes with a sleek charging base to store it on. That way it will never be without battery. Another thing to love, yes, there’s more. Is that after using it for longer than five minutes, it uses an auto-cleaning system to sanitise its filter and remove dirt for less maintenance. It took me by surprise at first as the voice assistant audio announced it was going to happen, and I wasn’t aware it had this feature. I’m personally obsessed with how it lights up at the front, to help see every bit of dirt and dust. (Picture: Metro/Scott Da Silva-Wells) As well as declaring ‘cleaning filter’, the voice also lets you know when the battery is low and whether there is a blockage so you can act on it without wondering what is wrong. A great, smart feature that many other models don’t have. Overall, the AirRAM 3 Plus is absolutely amazing and has taken the chore out of cleaning, making me look forward to tidying even more. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with any additional handheld accessories, but these can be purchased separately with a handheld bundle. So, if you’re looking for a sign to upgrade your tired hoover, let this be it. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
