Musk’s Boring Co. Working on Tunnel to Link Austin and San Antonio

Elon Musk said his Boring Co. venture is working on a tunnel project in Texas that would connect the cities of Austin and San Antonio. “Due to traffic congestion, that journey can currently take up to 2.5 hours,” Musk said in a poston his social media platform X. “@BoringCompany can reduce that to a consistent <30 mins.” The tunneling company this month raised $3 billion in new funding, which Boring said will be used to support deployment of underground transportation infrastructure across the United Arab Emirates. Boring has few successes to tout so far despite Musk’s ambitious goals for the business. In addition to its flagship Vegas Loop, which is operational, it broke ground for a tunnel in Nashville this year and will start building its Dubai Loop in late 2026. The company is also building tunnels in Bastrop, Texas, to link Musk-owned properties and allow employees of Boring, SpaceX, Tesla and X to travel between them, people familiar with the plans told Bloomberg News last year.
