They also revealed that the Time Is Running Out singer is also “asking the court for sole legal and physical custody of the kids”. Matt and Elle, who tied the knot in 2019 after four years of dating, share daughter Lovella, six, and four-year-old son George. Back in June, Matt now opened up on the break-up, confirming the split was centered around “unexpected circumstances”. Speaking to The i Paper, Matt said: “It’s one of those situations that involves something that people wouldn’t normally think it is. It was a set of really unexpected circumstances. ‘It’s the kind of thing no one really prepares for in life. It threw me off, and I had to prioritise looking after the kids and creating stability at home.’ Matt and Elle’s second child was born in May 2024 and they ultimately split just over a year later. He said: “[It was] right in the depths of this life-changing experience. And it was just – boom. “It would just pour out of me. “It might have been the easiest album for me to make, because it was such a catharsis. It became a lifeline for me.” The Sun on Sunday first reported news of the split in February. A source told us at the time: “Matt and Elle quietly broke up last October, but their relationship is very amicable. “They are now focused on co-parenting their children and still get on very well.” The couple started dating 11 years ago after meeting on the set of Muse’s video for Mercy. They divided their time between the UK and LA, where Matt has a son with his ex-fiancée, actress Kate Hudson. Comment now
