Muscat Municipality signs agreement to upgrade Al Salam Street in A’Seeb

Muscat: Muscat Municipality signed an agreement today with AZ Engineers and Partners to implement the Al Salam Street Upgrade Project. This falls within the municipality's efforts to develop the road and infrastructure system in Muscat Governorate, provide sustainable traffic solutions to address congestion points at vital locations, and increase the road's capacity to keep pace with urban expansion and the anticipated rise in traffic volume.The project targets two vital locations experiencing high traffic density on Al Salam Street by developing intersections and enhancing their capacity. This contributes to reducing stopping times and congestion and improving traffic flow efficiency and safety levels in the area. The first location involves upgrading the Industrial Roundabout intersection at the junction of Al Salam Street and Al E'mar Street by constructing a tunnel along Al Salam Street that allows continuous traffic flow in both directions without stopping. The tunnel consists of two lanes in each direction, with additional space allocated for a future third lane, providing the flexibility needed to increase road capacity in line with future requirements.The development of this location also includes the construction of two-lane overpasses, along with the provision of necessary entry and exit points and the upgrading of roads connected to the intersection. This contributes to organizing vehicle movement and facilitating transit between surrounding roads.The second location involves upgrading the traffic light intersection between Al Salam Street and Al Khair Street by constructing a tunnel along Al Salam Street consisting of two lanes in each direction, with additional space allocated for a future third lane. The development also includes the construction of two-lane overpasses, along with free-flow turning lanes.
