Greenan was arrested and then remanded in custody after appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week charged with Vikki’s murder. Locals told of their shock at Vikki’s violent death. One local, who knew the couple, said: “What has happened to Vikki is just awful. No one deserves that. “Greenan is evil and took the easy way out of this. The pair had recently split and he wasn’t taking it well.” Most read in The Sun The resident, who declined to be named, added: “I feel so sorry for Vikki’s family and her two kids whose world has been ripped apart.” A drinker at the Mid Yoken said: “Lee was known to lots of folk in the area and he had been drinking all weekend. “He was on a bender. Lee was in the pub earlier that day and left and then returned later on and was covered in blood. “When it became clear what he had done, people inside called the cops as there was a real concern for Vikki and also a worry that he still had the knife. Later on Monday we were told that Vikki was dead and he had stabbed her. “The man was a scumbag.” Another drinker at the pub said: “Everyone was worried this was going to be some sort of bloodbath and he would attack other people. “Nobody knew what to expect and called in police who sent out boys with guns to try and find him. “Luckily they quickly got a hold of him and no-one else was hurt.” It is unclear exactly what motivated Greenan to kill. Social media images of him with Vikki had previously shown the couple looking happy together. A Police Scotland armed response unit arrived on the scene within minutes and later located and arrested Greenan before discovering Vikki dead. The pub was also closed with other teams seen scouring its immediate vicinity. Since Vikki’s tragic death, tributes have flooded in for the popular local business owner. Flowers, cards and a balloon with the word “Mum” were laid outside her house. One tribute said: “I love you. Three simple words that do not truly say how I feel. You have always had my heart and now take it with you. Keep it safe. “We miss you.” Another read: “Rest in peace Vikki you beautiful girl.” Other people took to social media to pay their respects. Fiona Printy wrote: “Oh Vikki, my heart is broken thinking of you, the boys and your wonderful family and friends. “Everyone who was lucky enough to call you a friend will forever remember you for your funny sense of humour, daft things you did and you always looking your best! You will be so so missed.” Nicky Howard commented: “Still can’t get my head around this! Vikki you were so loved by a lot of people you were the kindest soul. Heartbroken and devastated.” Debbie Smith posted: “Absolutely heartbreaking, such awful news and truly an amazing young lady taken far too soon.” On Thursday, Greenan appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court where he faced a murder charge and two assault allegations. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 8.55am on Sunday, we were made aware of the death of a 46-year-old man at HMP Edinburgh. “There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.” Last night, a Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Every death, whether in prison custody or in our communities, is a tragedy for all those who knew and supported the individual. “Following the death of someone in our care, Police Scotland are advised, and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal. “Fatal Accident Inquiries are held in due course.”
