The Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will carry out road rehabilitation, drainage, pothole patching and other works across several communities from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4. In St Peter, Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice, with motorists travelling between Speightstown and the Ronald Mapp Highway required to use Warleigh Road. Road rehabilitation and construction projects are also continuing in several areas, including Chancery Lane, Christ Church; Cottage Vale, St Philip; Crab Hill, St Lucy; Highway D from Lester Vaughan School to Content, St Thomas; the Ermy Bourne Highway, St Andrew; and St Judes, St George. In St George, speed humps will be constructed outside St Luke’s Primary School, while pothole patching is scheduled for Sweet Vale and the Newbury to St Judes area. In St Michael, Emmerton Lane is being prepared for paving, while repairs to a headwall at Fontabelle and manhole grills off the Mighty Grynner Highway will continue. Drain cleaning is also scheduled for several areas across the island, including sections of the ABC Highway, Bridgetown, Enterprise Main Road, Belleplaine, Passage Road and Bay Street. The work is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday, weather permitting. Night crews will continue remarking school crossings across the island from Monday to Thursday between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m. MTW urged motorists to avoid speeding through work zones, warning that doing so puts workers at risk and can damage freshly painted road markings.
