Niall also has a rich history covering triple-A releases, sports games, and PC hardware. Yet another Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop happened today, and it was packed full of exciting crossovers, original artist bundles, and a ton of Marvel cards. If early signs are anything to go by, players might be getting sick of Marvel, though, because there is plenty of stock to go around of the individual bundles, while some original artist bundles and the Lofi Girl bundle have all sold out. There was chatter before this drop even happened that the Lofi Girl bundle in particular was expected to be popular. It's a niche property, at least compared to the likes of Marvel, but interest was high. There was always a chance it wouldn't sell out immediately; the same happened with the Stardew Valley bundles, but as soon as the drop went live, it didn't last long at all. Lofi Girl Proves To Be A Hit While Marvel Struggles There's a lot of behind-the-scenes info that isn't made public with each Secret Lair drop, particularly around the amount of stock that's available to buy if a given drop isn't being offered via print-to-demand. This leaves us to assume that a similar number of bundles are produced across all Secret Lair drops, and if this is the case, then Lofi Girl has massively outperformed Marvel in the latest Perfectly Normal Superdrop. The Lofi Girl bundle is sold out in most regions, while Marvel stock is readily available. In fact, at the time of writing, across the UK, EU, and USA stores, not a single Marvel bundle is sold out, while Lofi Girl is sold out in all three. When this Superdrop was announced at MagicCon Amsterdam, there were some big reactions for pretty much every bundle, so it's a little strange to see that Lofi Girl has outperformed every other option. Granted, some of the artist bundles have also sold out across all stores, but stock continues to be available depending on which region you're in. Is It Too Much, Too Often With Secret Lair? There are two ways to look at the availability of the Marvel Secret Lairs. One is that there have simply been too many Secret Lair drops recently, across both bundles and Commander Decks, for people to have the disposable income to keep ordering everything. The other is that players are done with Marvel products for now, following two Marvel sets releasing within 12 months, and more expected to come over the next three years. I saw plenty of comments, mainly on Reddit, predicting that these Marvel bundles would not sell out instantly, with most predicting that they would be available for "weeks." Some theorized that this would be because of the sheer volume of stock ordered, while others stated that it would be due to a lack of interest. Lofi Girl was first reported as sold out 26 minutes into the drop. That's quicker than the Goblin Storm deck if true. Given that the Lofi Girl property is considered niche compared to the likes of Stardew Valley, Marvel, and Lord of the Rings, why is it that the Secret Lair bundle has gone so fast? We'll never know the exact reasoning for this, nor the stock figures that would likely shine some perspective on how such drops work, but for now, Lofi Girl can claim a victory over some huge IPs in the Magic space, and that's pretty cool to see.
