Whether you like the idea or not, God Packs are coming to Magic: The Gathering, and you might open one with every booster pack you buy. Wizards of the Coast recently revealed a ton of info about God Packs, including when they're being introduced, how likely we are to pull one, and how they differ depending on which type of booster you're opening. The God Pack announcement divided fans, but it also dropped alongside key info about upcoming booster changes, which may have affected people's mood. So, if you're keen to know how this new system will work, we've got you covered. When Are God Packs Coming To MTG? God Packs are arriving in Magic: The Gathering with the launch of Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, which will be available from January 29, 2027, for pre-release and February 5, 2027, for the full launch. Unless otherwise communicated, God Packs are expected to be included in all in-universe and Universes Beyond sets moving forward. What Are The Odds Of Pulling A God Pack In MTG? Wizards of the Coast have revealed the odds of pulling a God Pack, but there are actually two different ratios because the odds change depending on whether you're opening a booster pack or a collector booster pack. If you're opening a regular booster pack, your odds of it being a God Pack are 1:1,000. That doesn't mean you're guaranteed a God Pack for every 1,000 packs you open, but the more packs you open, the better your odds should be. As for collector boosters, the odds of opening a God Pack shorten considerably and fall to 1:300. Given the increased cost and smaller box sizes for collector boosters, the odds aren't actually that much greater when viewed as a dollar value, but the contents in the pack certainly have the chance to be much more valuable based on what we've seen so far. What Do You Get In An MTG God Pack? As for the contents of a God Pack in Magic: The Gathering, it differs depending on the type of pack you're opening. If you're opening a regular booster pack, you get the following: A God Pack Celebration Card 10 Nonfoil rare and/or mythic rare cards Two nonfoil booster fun rare and/or mythic rare cards Two traditional foil booster fun rare and/or mythic rare cards As for collector boosters, they are a little more valuable in terms of the cards you are likely to pull, even though there are fewer cards in the pack overall. Each collector booster God Pack contains the following: A God Pack Celebration Card One foil land Three foil default frame rare and/or mythic rare cards Three nonfoil booster fun rare and/or mythic rare cards Five foil booster fun rare and/or mythic rare cards The prices of boosters and collector boosters aren't changing, although the guaranteed foil spot from regular boosters is going, as are any chances of pulling common and uncommon foils from them. With collector boosters, they're removing foil commons and uncommons from packs and replacing them with... nothing.
