Motorola Signature 27 is a proper flagship with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Alongside Qualcomm’s latest announcements, Motorola has officially shown off the Motorola Signature 27, a true flagship offering that’s set to launch before the end of this year. Building on the Motorola Signature, a pseudo-flagship that launched earlier this year, the Signature 27 adopts a new naming scheme (based on the coming year), a wild-looking design, and a proper flagship spec sheet. While its predecessor was based on Qualcomm’s step-down Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the Motorola Signature 27 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a new chip that’s just as powerful as its mouthful of a name. It’s a big deal on Motorola’s part, as the brand hasn’t used any flagship chipsets in quite a while. The Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) used the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but its successor didn’t upgrade, and other devices in the company’s lineup, including the $1,900 Razr Fold, haven’t gone beyond the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Motorola says to expect stronger on-device AI features with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, as well as “responsive” gaming, faster download speeds over various networks, and improvements to the camera, too. There’s an “ArcticMesh” cooling system that combines a 40% larger vapor chamber with liquid metal, copper mesh, and “diamond-infused thermal gel.” Motorola Signature 27 is promised 7 years of Android OS and security updates and has quite the look with its quad-camera setup on the back. That includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and 200MP periscope telephoto lens. The other two haven’t been confirmed just yet. The design itself brings back some Droid Razr vibes from over a decade ago. Signature 27 will come in “Coal Smoke” with a “Tactical Weave” finish, or “Capulet Green” with a “brushed textile-inspired finish.” A firm release date hasn’t been announced, nor has Motorola spilled the beans on exact launch markets. The company says it will debut “worldwide” in 2026, and also confirmed a launch in North America in the “coming months.” Thoughts?
