Motorola is finally bringing a true flagship back to the US to take on Apple and Samsung

However, that's changing with the debut of its latest high-end Android phone, the Signature 27. The just-unveiled phone is one of the first devices to use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. You can expect brisk performance all-around, of course, but Motorola touts faster on-device AI and "enhanced" camera features that include improved stabilization. A revamped 3D vapor chamber is 40 percent larger than the original and should lead to sustained speed when you're playing games or running AI models. The camera hardware has received its own share of upgrades. The 50-megapixel main camera now uses a newer Sony Lytia 910 sensor that promises sharper and richer pictures. More importantly, the telephoto lens uses a 200MP sensor that should allow for great detail even with a cropped digital zoom. The sound system could draw you in, too. The Signature 27 is Motorola's first phone to come from a partnership with speaker giant Bang & Olufsen. While more details aren't available as of this writing, Motorola claims B&O is lending its "expertise in sound and iconic design." As one of Motorola's top-tier devices, the Signature 27 will get seven years of both OS upgrades and security patches. It promises more details as it gets closer to launch. The phone is coming to the U.S., ending a years-long flagship drought. Motorola briefly posted a banner for the Signature 27 on its American website, and in a statement to How-To Geek said the phone is coming to North America in the "coming months." The price isn't known, but the top-shelf specs suggest it will challenge phones in the $1,000-plus range. An American premiere potentially shakes up the local market. Apple, Google, and Samsung currently dominate carriers' premium phone selections, with even the Razr Fold limited to one network. The Signature 27 could represent a fourth major option that adds much-needed variety, especially for Android users.
