NewsUK News A MOTORCYCLIST died after a “massive” pheasant flew into him as he took KFC to his wife in hospital, an inquest heard. Andrew Davenport, 47, was riding his BMW bike when the bird hit him in an “explosion of feathers” on the A454 near Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Shropshire Coroner’s Court heard there were no drugs or alcohol in his system, visibility was good and there were no adverse road conditions. His riding was also described as “calm, steady and competent” by a couple who saw Andrew moments before the crash. The inquest was told Andrew had been taking KFC to his wife on March 1 when the “massive” pheasant hit his left hand side. Police, paramedics and an air ambulance attended the scene but tragically he could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene. John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said: “There are two incredibly unlucky things that have happened to Andy. “Firstly, the pheasant and losing consciousness, then colliding with the road sign. It was that which killed him.” Most read in The Sun Mr Ellery recorded a conclusion of death as a result of a road traffic collision. Paying tribute after the hearing, his wife Aine said: “He was loud, always the centre of attention. “He was full of wisdom. He was a really beautiful man.” Aine told how she met her husband on Plenty of Fish and was wooed by his “beautiful blue eyes and muscles”. Andrew was a popular house DJ who had played in Ibiza and was also an entrepreneur who ran events including the Crooked House Festival in Lichfield, Staffordshire. He also was boss of a bar and once won the Mr Midlands first timer award in a bodybuilding competition. His mum Linda Osborne said: “In his short life he did an awful lot. He achieved amazing things.”
