A motorcyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after a collision with a council rubbish truck in Townsville.The crash at Webb Drive in Mount St John was reported to emergency services at 5:51am.A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the male motorcycle rider had suffered critical injuries.A spokesperson for the council said the local government was working closely with Queensland Police, who were investigating the incident."As a result, Webb Drive is expected to remain closed for approximately three hours," the spokesperson said.Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said the truck involved in the collision had recently left a council depot."As people might know, our waste trucks are actually stored down at the end of Webb Drive and one of the first trucks coming out this morning was involved in this," he said.Councillor Dametto said no rubbish would be collected by council on Wednesday.The crash follows a fatal collision between a Townsville City Council garbage truck and a pedestrian in July 2025.An 85-year-old woman died as a result of the incident, which happened at a residential street in Bushland Beach.
