The next James Bond is preparing his Martini. The character James Bond was created in 1952 by British novelist and former naval intelligence officer Ian Fleming. The first novel, Casino Royale, launched a major media empire, making a character that has become widely known as the British intelligence officer 007. Until 1964, there were 12 novels and two collections of short stories featuring the secret agent, and the last novel, The Man with the Golden Gun, was published in 1965 after the author's death. James Bond has had many faces since his creation, with Sean Connery being the first 007 in 1962 debuting in the movie Dr. No. The latest actor to take on the role was Daniel Craig, and now Amazon MGM Studios is on the hunt for the next secret agent. It was reported that final auditions are being held between Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O'Connor to crown the winner and have Amazon's lead for its upcoming adaptation. With plenty of opinions being shared, ScreenRant launched a poll to round up the fan-favorite pick amongst readers for the next 007. Slow Horse's Lowden took the lead with 47.7%, with Turner sitting at 13.4%, and O'Connor at the bottom of the poll with 7.5% of readers wanting him as the next Bond. However, the option for another pick to be chosen as James Bond was the second-highest at 31.4%. There have been rumors of a fourth option that Amazon is keeping quiet during final auditions, and there have been other options leading to the final picks for the character. Actors such as Jacob Elordi and Richard Madden were listed as potential options. Reports from betting-odds comparison platforms such as Oddschecker and BetOnline have rounded up selections for Bond and a Bond Girl. Lowden continues to dominate the charts with a 62% chance of securing the all-important role and Margaret Qualley as the favorite Bond Girl with an impressive 33% chance according to the betting odds. Craig was the most recent Bond and portrayed the character in five movies from 2006 to 2021, holding the record for the longest tenure in the role at 15 years. He first appeared in Casino Royale, which was adored by many as a gritty reboot for the franchise. The actor then appeared in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and finally No Time to Die, acting as the final swan song for Craig's time as such a pivotal portrayal of 007. At the time of writing, Amazon MGM Studios has kept quiet about any details regarding the new adaptation of the beloved empire. Lowden, Turner, O'Connor, or the mysterious fourth actor could be crowned the next 007, and it's clear Lowden remains a favorite selection for the upcoming movie. James Bond remains an iconic spy fictional world, and the next Bond will have a major role to fill following Craig's undeniable success.
