Live Blog Update| War on Iran 9 September 2026 07:16 BST Good morning Middle East Eye readers, Here are the latest developments: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement carried by Iranian media on Wednesday that they had attacked a US base in Jordan's Al Azraq with ballistic missiles, in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian oil tankers. It also claimed attacks on several oil tankers, ships and US vessels. More than 30 Saudi air strikes were launched across several regions in Yemen on Wednesday, according to Houthi-run Al Masirah TV. It said that aircrafts belonging to Saudi Arabia launches the attacks across the governorates of Marib, al-Jawf, Taiz and Hodeida over the past few hours. The Iranian foreign ministry has condemned a US attack on Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman on Saturday, calling a "war crime". The ministry asserted that Tehran remains determined to "firmly defend its sovereignty and national interests" against US actions, including Washington's ongoing maritime blockade, attacks on commercial vessels, and its continued "economic war". Israeli forces and settlers have killed four Palestinians in Nablus, Qalqilya and Tulkarm over the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported. This raises the death toll of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the start of the year to 100. All European Union Member States agree that Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said. Kaja Kallas indicated that the UK and 11 other countries backed trade sanctions targeting Israeli settlements in the West Bank, adding that the EU remains "firmly committed" to supporting a two-state solution.
