MORNING Live presenter Gethin Jones has shared his huge new career move that saw him head back to university for a short stint. Welshman Gethin is essentially head of Wales at the sporting event – and it’s no easy feat. Read more on Gethin Jones The former Blue Peter presenter will be the primary leader and spokesperson, managing the team operations, media relations, and official logistics. Gethin will also oversee athlete welfare and keep the team morale high. To take on the exciting role, he spent the last year attending university to earn a Master’s degree in Sports Directorship alongside his presenting commitments. Taking to his Instagram earlier this week, he said of his new gig: “I can’t even tell you what an honour and privilege it is to be leading the team, as Chef de Mission, here in Glasgow. Most read in TV “It’s been amazing, the last 12 to 18 months, with all the team, behind the team, just making sure all the prep, the logistics, are done.” “To make our athletes have the best opportunity to succeed over the next few weeks here in Glasgow,” added Gethin. The Commonwealth Games kicked off on Thursday and are set to run until Sunday 2 August. He was recently issued a “warning” by the Beeb after breaching the channel’s guidelines. Gethin was secretly plugging products on BBC1’s Morning Live, which he anchors alongside Helen Skelton and Michelle Ackerley. The TV star was recently spotted wearing an array of timepieces from the brand Clogau while on screen. Gethin is actually a paid ambassador for the firm – which is strictly against the BBC‘s rules. The guidelines say presenters “must not appear on-air wearing clothing or using products or services which they have been contracted to promote.” BBC Studios told the Mail on Sunday: “We have clear guidelines around presenters’ commercial activities, and Gethin has been reminded of these.” Comment now
