MATCHA is quickly becoming both a hot new craze and a widely divisive phenomenon. It is the marmite of the modern day era. Just the other day, my sister gave me a look of disgust after watching me order one in a cafe. Fans of matcha and gym and fitness fanatics What we loved: Great taste and easy to put it all together. What we didn’t love: I was lucky enough to have an electric hand whisk, but those who don’t might struggle to mix the powder with your choice of milk. We should probably start with the important nutrition stuff because it’s really important. There’s 18 grams of protein per serving and it contains a dietary fiber called glucomannan, which is known for weight loss. The matcha powder itself is made with 90 per cent less sugar, and that’s a good thing considering how great it tastes. I had the original taste version, which was lovely. But there are other options too: You can choose from Strawberry Cheesecake, Pistachio White Chocolate, Vanilla Crumble and Caramelized Macadamia. Another thing is just how easy this all comes together. All you have to do is take one serving spoon and place it in any mug or glass, Then you can pour in any milk of your choice before stirring with either a spoon or an electric whisk (this helps a lot if you have one). I’ve only got into matcha recently and it’s usually my go-to in the cafe after a long session at my local Virgin Active. I do a lot with weights and I like to get my protein fix as soon as possible after a workout to ensure I stay on track. Now I’m able to get home from the gym and immediately have an iced matcha – and it more than does the job. It saves me having to get back and start planning a post-workout meal. No cooking or prepping required. Even my fiance has been trying some when she works at home. I often tell her off because she gets too busy to make herself lunch during a hectic day. But while this isn’t strictly a meal replacement, having a More iced protein matcha means she can go about her day and feel pretty satiated without having to waste time making food. I’ve also found myself drinking a matcha in the late morning after breakfast and not feeling hungry at all for lunch. This helps me as a journalist who is constantly busy writing story after story. When I was younger, I was constantly trying new things to help me bulk up – whether than was protein powder or creatine. I never really loved chugging back protein powder drinks and I’m not a huge fan of creatine. So having a protein drink that makes me feel like I’m just sipping a regular iced coffee is a much swifter experience for me. *Buy More Protein Iced Matcha Latte (500g) here from just £37.99.
