More NBA Summer League action for several former Louisville basketball stars

Preliminary games at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas came to a close on Thursday night, and did so with a slate in which four former Louisville basketball stars took to the court. In the Brooklyn Nets’ 100-83 loss to the Houston Rockets, Mikel Brown Jr. played the most time thus far with 27 minutes logged by the former Louisville basketball point guard. In that time, Brown notched 14 points while also dishing out a team-high four assists. Brown also had two rebounds and one block in the contest. Former Louisville big man Malik Williams was once more a force on the boards for the Chicago Bulls. Playing 13 minutes in Chicago’s 105-82 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Williams led all bench players with seven rebounds. He added one block to his stat line, as well. In one of the more competitive games of the day, former Louisville forward J’Vonne Hadley scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds for the Miami Heat. Hadley played a total of 25 minutes in the 99-90 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Ryan Conwell has played in four games between California and Las Vegas with the Miami Heat this summer. The second-round draft pick will not see any more summer league action as the Heat have shut down the recent second-round pick. He averaged 20.5 points per game in the summer action he saw. Contributing as a starter in Las Vegas for the Atlanta Hawks, former Louisville shooter Isaac McKneely left the game versus the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night early in the second quarter with a shoulder injury. He had gone 1-for-1 shooting to that point in a contest in which the Grizzlies won 96-64. Chucky Hepburn has sat out the past two games for the Toronto Raptors, and the status for the former Louisville basketball star for this weekend is unknown. The NBA Summer League wraps up this weekend with consolation games beginning Friday, while the semifinals and championship game will be played Saturday and Sunday. Included in Friday’s consolation slate, Williams and the Bulls face the Cleveland Cavaliers while Hadley and the Heat will play the Detroit Pistons.
