Monsoon is set to intensify on Sunday. Check your state's rain forecast

The monsoon is set to remain active across several parts of India on Sunday, August 23, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in parts of central and eastern India.The weather system over northeast Madhya Pradesh is continuing to affect rainfall over central India, while another system is taking shape over the north Bay of Bengal. (Photo: Reuters) The IMD said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal, off the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts, during the next 24 hours.CENTRAL INDIA BRACES FOR HEAVY RAINFor August 23, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. The IMD has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh. (Photo: IMD) Impacts will also be felt in parts of the Northeast, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. East Uttar Pradesh could see particularly intense spells, with isolated very heavy rainfall also likely there.The wider rainfall pattern shows that central India is likely to remain one of the main active zones. Fairly widespread to widespread rain is forecast over East and West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh in the coming days.WILL IT RAIN IN DELHI-NCR?For Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh, the IMD expects scattered rainfall on August 23, meaning rain is likely at a few places rather than across the entire region. (Photo: PTI) Elsewhere, fairly widespread to widespread rain is expected over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.Scattered rain is also likely across parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and southern India.The changing weather is being driven by multiple systems interacting with the monsoon trough.
