Slamming on the brakes to try and avoid the crash, the Mercedes was shunted into the vehicle travelling behind it, which recorded the horror crash, while the dangerous driver sped off. The cabbie was seen opening the door of his vehicle as the dashcam driver and a silver Ford Transit pulled over to assist him. Reacting to the shocking footage, one local said: “The driver’s late swerve likely reduced the impact, but in a tunnel, there’s no escape route, and the collision is heavy.” They urged anyone with information to contact the police, adding: “This is why wrong-way driving is so feared, there’s nowhere to go.” Slamming on the brakes, the Mercedes was shunted into the vehicle travelling behind it Credit: AC NEWS The crash took place at 3.08am on July 9 on the A406 North Circular Credit: AC NEWS Elsewhere, Steve Hodge, from nearby Woodford Green and a taxi driver of over four decades, described the smash, which took place at 3.08am on July 9, as “scary”.
