I’m going to pee my pants. I’m sorry.” Police said Brown initially targeted the girl, who was a pupil at his school in Lytham St Anne’s, Lancashire, in July 2024. He initially used his school email account to contact her, before moving their conversations onto social media and video calls. On one occasion, Brown appeared on a video call wearing just his underwear. Most read in The Sun He kissed the teenager in December 2025 before his offending escalated further. Brown would drive the girl to secluded areas where he engaged in sexual activity with her. While on other occasions he caused her to engage in sexual activity at a property. His offending finally came to light when the girl’s parent contacted police in January, with concerns that Brown had been targeting her. An investigation was quickly launched and officers then searched Brown’s classroom. It was there they discovered four mobile phones hidden in one of his desk drawers. Investigators went on to uncover roughly 700 text messages between Brown and the teenager – all of a sexual nature. Some showed him deliberately attempting to get the girl alone so he could commit his sick offences. Brown answered “no comment” to every question when interviewed by detectives. He later pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to one count of sexual communication with a child. The teacher also admitted three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. Brown, of no fixed address but formerly of St Annes, was jailed for 11 years and ordered to sign the sex offenders register. Speaking after the verdict, the teen victim’s devastated mum blasted the paedophile for “stealing a year of our lives”. She said: “This incident has kept me awake night after night for months, with feelings of guilt. “Guilt that I was not able to do what I consider to be the most important job in the world, protecting my child.” She added: “I feel that David has stolen a year of our lives… “A year of childhood memories I should be making for my daughters has been taken away. “I should be on family holidays and making positive experiences. “Instead [the years] have been spent having to deal with David’s actions as a family together.” DS Adam Errington, of West Child Abuse Investigation Team, hailed the victim’s bravery throughout the case. He said: “Brown is a paedophile who tried to disguise himself as a trusted member of society. “I can only hope that she now knows that justice has been served, and that Brown has been held accountable for his actions that were so wrong. “He abused his position as a teacher, as a person with a responsibility for young people’s wellbeing all for his own sordid sexual interests. “I welcome the custodial sentence against him, and hope that he uses his time behind bars to truly reflect on how reprehensible his actions were. “I want to send a message to young people out there today who may be a victim of sexual offences, without realising they are. “It isn’t love – it is manipulation, and it is a crime. If you or someone you know may be a victim of sexual offences, please tell us, or someone you trust. “We will listen to you, we will believe you, and we will do all we can to get you justice.”
