Moment female runner is tripped up as she overtakes male athlete in 10km race and is left ‘furious’

But the Hollywoodbets Athletics Club member revealed the male runner showed remorse and offered an apology. Kavanagh said: “My first 5km unexpectedly went by fast, even though the fall kind of threw me off a little bit, I won’t lie. “But I tried to regain momentum and kept on going as soon as I got back up. “He came to apologise, which I really appreciate because I must say, I was very furious at that time because it is something you don’t expect to happen often in road running. She raced back to her foot and was spotted clutching her hip on a couple of occasions. But Kavanagh went on to become the first female across the finishing line with a time of 31 minutes and 39 seconds. Naheng Khatala was 22 seconds further back in second, while Karabo Mailula bagged the final place on the podium.
