Syed Imam, 30, told Scotland Yard officers 'it can't be me' and falsely accused security staff of lying after they saved the vulnerable female in an underpass. They had heroically stopped his attempted sex attack during the early hours of March 14 and detained him before police arrived, having seen him earlier acting suspiciously. In police bodycam footage, Imam is heard saying 'I can't be' and smirks as an officer arrests him and reads him his rights. He opens his mouth wide and accuses a security guard of lying after an officer explains to him that he had been seen leaving the Tube station with the woman.Officers arrived within 30 minutes of the attack and took Imam into custody. He was charged within 24 hours. Today, he was jailed for six years for the attempted rape - two months after being found guilty following a four-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. The Met Police said the woman had no recollection of what had happened, but that evidence secured through CCTV and fast-paced investigative work allowed Imam to be interviewed, charged and remanded within 24 hours.
