MLA seeks CBI probe into KPSC ‘scam’

Bharat Shetty on Wednesday sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of 400 veterinary officers by the Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KPSC).Addressing press persons here, the MLA said there are allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process, including OMR answer sheet tampering, nepotism, leak of question paper and candidates’ confidential information, and the involvement of middlemen who allegedly promised jobs in exchange for money.The CBI probe should also cover alleged favouritism shown by suspended KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar to his family members in the recruitment process for government employment.Mr. Shetty said that the CBI should also probe alleged irregularities in the examination conducted by the KPSC for the recruitment of Class B Assistant Directors of Land Records.He said that the government has failed to conduct recruitment for the government job vacancies in a fair and transparent manner. Hence about 2.50 lakh jobs continue to be vacant.Alleging that law and order in the State has collapsed the MLA said that the government has failed to curb drug menace in the State pro-actively.Criticising the Congress government in the State, Mr. Shetty said that the past three years were spent on speculating who would be the Chief Minister by replacing Siddaramaiah. Presently the ruling party MLAs are busy with airing their disgruntlement for not being accommodated in the recently formed Cabinet of Ministers.The grand old party (Congress) which claims about women empowerment failed to accommodate even a single woman in the recently formed Cabinet of Ministers. Though there are women MLAs capable of handling ministries, the Congress did not make any one a Minister.The MLA said that the State government is weakening public universities by not releasing funds.
