Mitch Landrieu adds his name to growing list of potential Democratic 2028 contenders

The Democratic former Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, 66, says he is “seriously” thinking about running for president in 2028, adding his name to the wide array of Democrats floating a bid for the White House in two years.“I am thinking about it. A lot of people have said, ‘You should think about it,’ so it’s hard not to. It’s an honor for people even to think that, you know, that would even be possible,” Landrieu told Politico on Wednesday. Recommended Stories Landrieu, a former Biden administration infrastructure adviser, said he has really “thought seriously” about the decision, adding that he has not created a campaign structure or super PAC to fundraise, which would start him off at the very baseline if he did decide to run. The Biden-era official added, however, that he believes it is “not too late to do that.” “The reason why I would run for president is if I thought that I was best suited to do it, I thought I could win, and I thought that I could really figure out a way to bring the country together,” Landrieu said in the interview. “They’re all important. You got to have them all before you pull the trigger.
