Missing youth found dead in Belagavi district

A 27-year-old youth from Belagavi, who had been missing for five days, was found dead near Nandgad Danti in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district.The deceased has been identified as Sarvesh Kangralakar, a resident of Marutigalli on the Sambra Road in Belagavi.According to his family, Sarvesh had left home on September 20 evening saying that he was going to partake in the public celebration of the Ganesha festival. He did not return home subsequently, following which his parents lodged a missing-person complaint at the Malamaruti police station.Meanwhile, information was received about an alleged incident on Mandoli Road in which a youth was assaulted and taken away in a car. Taking the matter seriously, Belagavi City Police Commissioner Prakash Nikam formed two teams to trace Sarvesh.While the police were searching for him, his body was found near Nandgad Danti in Khanapur taluk on Friday (September 25).The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, including whether the reported incident on Mandoli Road was connected to his disappearance and death. No allegation against any individual has been established so far, the police said.A missing-person case has been registered at the Malamaruti police station, while a kidnapping case has been registered at the Belagavi Rural police station. The police are continuing their investigation based on the circumstances in which the body was found and other information gathered during the search.The exact cause of death is expected to be established after the postmortem examination and further investigation.
