A MISSING pet dog has been miraculously rescued from San Francisco bay nearly two weeks after being spooked by July 4 fireworks and running away. The dog, named Prieta, was pulled from the water by firefighters while being pursued by a colony of seagulls. Prieta was scooped out of the water shivering, startled and was immediately wrapped in a warm jacket before being taken back to land. Staff said she arrived “exhausted, scared, and with facial injuries from the ordeal”. They also treated her for scratches before feeding her and giving her water. Prieta had gone missing during the Fourth of July celebrations after being spooked by loud fireworks. Her owners admitted they had begun to lose hope about finding her. One of them, who decided to remain anonymous, wrote on social media: “I want to thank the entire rescue team from the bottom of my heart. “These last two weeks were a lot of agony not knowing about my dog.” The woman said she had searched animal centres around Palo Alto but had no luck until the phone call on July 16. She continued: “I was very, very depressed not knowing where she was and was even losing hope. “My heart started beating so hard when I received the call from the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) team. “I would never be able to thank you enough for her rescue and for bringing her back to her home.
