It’s through reflection that we learn to see ourselves, but also it gives us space and shape to imagine ourselves differently.These ideas and more take shape here in Mirror, Mirror. Our photo-first project is dedicated to Stud Up, the new Maison Valentino trainer by Creative Director Alessandro Michele. The style is already set to become one of the most sought-after sneakers of the moment and one of the defining styles of everyone’s 2026 wardrobe. Stud Up is much more than an accessory—it’s a declaration of fashion. The sneakers are alive with contrasts, callbacks, and constant evolution in full reflection of Alessandro Michele’s creative universe.ValentinoValentinoLike in a hall of mirrors, his vision is assembled from reflections and echoes, interweaving memory and modernity, legacy and reinvention, sartorial rigor and decorative fantasy. Iconic studs, butterfly motifs, precious palettes and vintage-flavored details resurface from the vaults of the Maison’s history. This is a new lexicon, faithful to the brand’s past but reinvented through Michele’s sensibilities. More than rereading Valentino Garavani’s style codes, Alessandro Michele sees them from new angles, making them reflect into each other like mirrors within mirrors.Those same ideas inform our project’s photographic lexicon. The aesthetic may invoke digital manipulation and the infinite possibilities of artificial intelligence, but our methods are the exact opposite. There’s no post-production artifice, no generated imagery. Everything was captured live inside a photo studio, through reflective surfaces, concave and convex mirrors, refraction, light and painstaking composition work.ValentinoThe goal here was to recreate that sense of multiplication and alienation that we now attribute to AI, while restoring to it the physicality and imperfection of human gesture. Each reflection is real, each distortion created right before the camera, each framing the result of patient research. It’s an intentionally anti-mainstream choice, turning the set into a creative lab where photography, design and know-how are in constant dialogue.ValentinoHere, reflections aren’t just a trick, but a visual language: a narrative tool that can multiply matter, amplify details and entice the eye to linger.The Stud Up trainer was born from this very philosophy of transformation. It reinvents sneakers through a sophisticated dialogue between suede, leather and nylon, vibrant palettes and different materials. It is a marriage of the Maison’s refined language with the energy of contemporary sportswear. The result is a model that lends itself to daytime looks just as much as formal evening wear—all made even more precious by an iconic strip of studs, embracing the instep like a jewel. Alongside it appears the butterfly, the star emblem of the 2026-2027 Autumn/Winter collection and a recurring symbol in Alessandro Michele’s vision. A symbol of lightness and metamorphosis, the butterfly adds motion and three-dimensionality to the shoes, underscoring its mutable nature.ValentinoWhen the style meets our creativity, the Stud Up enters a universe made of reflections, depth and perspectives in constant transformation. The photo set is built by hand, from mirrored surfaces modeled one by one to create distortions, optical illusions and unexpected points of view.
