Mira Rajput tells Kareena why she has no regrets about becoming a mother at 22

Mira Rajput became a mother at 22, just a year after marrying actor Shahid Kapoor. Nearly a decade later, she has no regrets about starting that chapter of her life so early. In a conversation with actor Kareena Kapoor Khan on What Women Want, Mira opened up about the challenges of early motherhood, the support she received from Shahid and her sisters, and how the couple divide parenting duties at home.Kareena asked Mira if she ever wished she'd waited a little longer before having children. Mira, however, was quite clear that she wouldn't change a thing.“I don’t think so. Regardless of what stage it comes to you, motherhood is a challenge. You and I have had kids at different stages, but I am sure we have both had those challenges,” she said.Mira also spoke about how Shahid and her two sisters made the transition easier. Having sisters who were already mothers meant she could learn from their experiences rather than turn to parenting books. “I think at that time what helped me was that I had Shahid, who was extremely supportive. I had my two sisters, who had already had kids. I didn’t read a single book because I saw them raising children. Of course, it had challenges, but I would not have it any other way,” she said. The conversation also touched upon how Mira and Shahid manage their responsibilities as parents. She believes it's important for both partners to pitch in rather than leave one person to handle everything. “I think it is very important to share responsibilities between husband and wife because one person can’t do everything,” she said.As for how that works in their household, the division of duties seems fairly clear. Shahid takes charge of the children's sports and diet, while Mira looks after their homework, birthday parties, classes and general behaviour. That arrangement, however, changes whenever one of them is travelling, with the other stepping in to manage everything.Mira also spoke fondly about her bond with Misha and Zain, saying she enjoys spending time with them and has learnt to understand how they communicate. There's another aspect of becoming a young mother that she particularly looks forward to: she'll be just 41 when Misha turns 21.Mira and Shahid got married in 2015 in an arranged marriage. The two reportedly connected over their shared spiritual beliefs. They welcomed their daughter Misha in 2016, followed by their son Zain in 2018.Interestingly, the conversation with Kareena also brought together two women who share a connection through Shahid. Kareena and the actor were in a relationship for around four years, between 2004 and 2007. Kareena went on to marry Saif Ali Khan in 2012, while Shahid married Mira three years later.Fans appreciated the easy equation between Kareena and Mira during their conversation, with many praising their comfort around each other.- Ends
